Going ashore
With your own boat you can go ashore on the outer side of the small island of Mollö, to seaward of Mollösund. Here is located Slubbersholmen, a nice spot for bathing and having fun. Keep your eyes open for other small islands and good beaches all around. Just keep in mind the beach and bird protection rules. If you are lucky you may see seals basking in the sunshine on the rocks.
Rope works and ling preparation on Mollön
Ashore on Mollön you can really hear the beat of history’s wings. There used to be a rope works here that made mackerel lines, and also some remains of the extensive ling preparation that used to take place. The ling drying racks are in addition scheduled for restoration in an on-going EU project. As you walk across the island you pass by the prehistoric grave area, and you get a wonderful view from the large bronze age cairn.
There are also traces left of the very active shooting association from the 1940s and 1950s.
