Communication in those days
A telephone and telegraph station came to Mollösund in the 1850s. There were spiteful rumours that the location of the station was for the benefit of the local governor, Count Albert Ehrensvärd, who had a summer residence in Mollösund. Member of Parliament Axel Ljungman put down a motion in 1885 to have the station moved to Varekil, where a central station was to be built. Connections would then be made to Ellös in Orust, Stockevik in Tjörn, Stenungsund and Mollösund. Ljungman had his request granted, and it was implemented in 1886.
